My community wants to spray all grounds with a product that contains Bifenthrin to kill deer ticks. That seems harsh and not at all friendly to the environment. What other alternatives do we have?

Thanks for your question. Of the various controls, each has pros and cons… some are effective but must have direct contract with the tick, some have no residual effect and have to be reapplied over the tick season, some have very questionable effectiveness. An excellent and thorough publication that describes the various kinds of ticks, the diseases they carry and the suggested controls are in the following publication from New Hampshire Extension.

I hope this helps.
