Lady bugs to control aphids

Asked May 9, 2017, 3:27 PM EDT

I'm a science teacher and run a rather large aquaponics system in my greenhouse. This semester, aphids wiped out a lot of our plants. Working with kids, of course I want to do things properly. What is your position on using ladybugs to control aphids? If it is acceptable, is there a particular species I should try to use/avoid? Can you recommend a supplier that is reliable?
