Spring is the best time to transplant rhododendrons, or early fall. The risk with early fall is to make sure the plant has some time to develop roots in the new location before the soil is too cold. Also, transplanting in the heat of summer is not a good idea. If it is blooming right now it will be fine to wait until the show is over.
