Pruning & training 3 grape vines

Asked May 3, 2017, 3:04 PM EDT

Hello garden expert, I would like help pruning & training two 6-yr old grape vines and advice on training a budding 3-year old vine that rabbits nipped down to 1.5 feet. I've built an arbor with two horizontal cables and a top horizontal rail on which to train the vines. Is there a volunteer or someone I can pay to advise me? I'm at 4136 5th Ave, Mpls 55409. My phone is 612-968-4418. Thank you. Chris Burda

You can learn about pruning grapes and training them using our Extension publication: http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/fruit/growing-grapes-for-home-use/
Unfortunately, volunteers don't make house calls. However, here is a really good video from the University of Maine about pruning young vines (thinking of the vine a rabbit ate). Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkJHaZSS5eQ

Maine has other really good pruning videos for your older vines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-XQ_ukRMFA
