Could this be Virus X?

Asked May 2, 2017, 2:19 PM EDT

I've had a bed of hostas around my tree for several years now. This year I'm noticing some look very wrinkled...image attached. Could this be Virus X? If so, should I take all the hostas around this tree out, even the healthy ones?

We had our plant pathologist look at your photos. This doesn't look like Hosta Virus X, which has a more mottled-color appearance. This type of wrinkling and puckering can be caused when the leaves emerge in cool weather. With the variable weather we have had this spring, this is more likely the cause of the problem.
