Leatherleaf Viburnum under a Black Walnut Tree?

Asked May 1, 2017, 2:55 PM EDT

Can I plant a V. rhytidophillum 'Green Thumb' Leatherleaf Viburnum under or near my Black Walnut Tree? My written lists are not specific for this species, with some saying "most species" and "some some species." Thank you for your guidance!

We do not have research on plants that are tolerant to juglone and do not have a specific list that we reference. You will see a lot of variability in lists and they are not specific so you may have to reference several extension publications. There may be no research.

Penn State lists Blackhaw and Koreanspice viburnum as tolerant. No mention of the above http://extension.psu.edu/plants/gardening/fact-sheets/trees-shrubs/landscaping-and-gardening-around-...
