About hornet

Dear extension, My name is Linda, I have a very headache problem about my yard. There have a lot hornet fly around my yard. Those hornets always dig in the hole. I tried some way, like hire people to put chemical, but hornet come back again this year. I bought killer from Home Depot, they still come back. I hope you can help me, thank you very much. Please view our website for photos of stinging and other flying insects. It would be a good idea to identify them first. so we can see what you may be dealing with. It is possible you may be referring to mining bees, a beneficial insect. http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/mining-bees-lawns

Look at bumblebees, Europen hornets, and yellow jackets. Send photos if possible.

We had our entomologist look at your photos. We think this is a resin bee. They are not aggressive. They are usually found flying in the landscape for about 2-3 weeks out of the year.
