Pear tree

Asked April 29, 2017, 10:28 AM EDT

Last year, our Bartlett pear tree had very few blossoms and only one fruit. It is 2-3 yrs. old and this year , as of April 28, we haven't seen any blossoms. We have not had any other pear as a cross pollinator. I have just purchased a Kieffer tree but not planted yet but it does not have any blossoms or fruit, that i can see. Thank you for any help in this matter.

Hard to say why a tree is not blooming. Normally pears don't bloom for several years after planting until the tree becomes more mature. You should avoid over fertilizing and heavy pruning as both suppress flowering by promoting vegetative growth
