Pervasive plant in yard

Can you identify what this plant is, and how we can get rid of it?

The leaves in the photo are probably those of the white trout lily Erythronium albidum or a closely related species. Go here to learn more about it:

Most people consider the white trout lily a delightful spring wildflower so there are no control recommendations. However, it's likely that commonly used broad- leafed lawn weed killers will eliminate it.

Although trout lilies often grow in dense colonies, flowers do not appear until individual plants are several years old.
