Yew Tree NeedlesTurning Brown

Asked April 23, 2017, 4:24 PM EDT

We are located near Long Green, MD. I recently noticed that the needles on our 3 Yew trees on the east side of the house are turning brown. Recent rains have sent a lot of run-off water their way. I also read the soil could be too acid or they could have "bugs." The trees have been here since before 1985 and I have never seen them in this condition. The Yews on the north and west sides of the house look fine. If we should have an aborist look at them, are you able to recommend someone?

We think that perhaps this shrub had fresh new budding branch tips that got zapped by our cold snap.
Those tips should die back and be shed as the season continues.
