The vinegar you see in the grocery store may kill the green leafy parts of the weeds but will have little effect on the root system. Meaning the weed will just regenerate. Some natural herbicides are marketed with higher acidity that may have a greater affect on some small annual weeds but the solution should be handled with caution. There are some reports of a mixture of vinegar, salt and dish soap having some success as well but reports are limited.
