Asparagus-looking weed?

Asked April 16, 2017, 7:40 PM EDT

This showed up on the landscaping in front of my house that I have been slowly converting to native plants. It looks like asparagus and is about 8-10" tall, but has not flowered yet. It's 1-2 weeks old and is purplish-green.

This looks like the emerging growth of Baptisia australis , or wild blue indigo.

Give it some time to let the leaves unfurl and look at images of baptisia foliage online. If yours looks very different from baptisia, send us photos of your leaves. it's much easier to identify plants when the leaves are fully open.
