Hi, Do roses need manure added for growth every year or just the first year? Thanks. Regards, Helen

Hello Helen,
Manure is generally added as an organic fertilizer and soil conditioner. Organic matter increases microorganism activity and improves the overall quality of your soils and is critical for healthy micro-organisms. If your roses are doing well you would need no more than a very small amount each year in the early fall or late winter.
Optimum soil pH for roses is between 5.5 - 7.0 (6.5). They are heavy feeders and likes the soil around the roses watered, not the leaves to avoid fungus.
Have a great weekend. Andy
