Evergreen problems

Asked April 12, 2017, 4:56 PM EDT

Hello, We noticed this Spring that several of our evergreens are looking pretty bad. Nearly no needles on the lower branches while the upper half looks a bit better and fuller. Is this normal or should we be worried? Thanks much for all you do. I have more photos but it would only let me upload the one.

The loss of needles may be due to Rhizosphaera needle cast. A definitive diagnosis cannot be made from photographs. To obtain a definitive diagnosis, sent a plant specimen to the ISU Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic. Information on submitting a specimen to the clinic can be found at http://www.ent.iastate.edu/pidc/
