gall disease in a red oak

Asked April 7, 2017, 11:56 AM EDT

I just noticed several golf size galls in a young red oak (4 inches diam.). The galls are brown, hard, and there are tiny holes on the surface. Is there any treatment for this.? Thank You for your help

Here is our page on shade tree galls. They do not seriously affect the health of the trees. Most likely these galls are old and no control is necessary. If you can reach, prune out.
