irrigation emitters

Asked March 24, 2017, 3:56 PM EDT

Hi,
I have just installed drip irrigation around my mature trees. I have purchased 2 gph for them. I would also like to add flowers to the same zone. I am assuming that I do this with different emitters. I am having difficulty finding:
-what emitter gph for what plants
-how long to water
-if I have flowers that need to be watered more often in the heat of summer (than the mature trees), do I just use the different emitters and water everything a little more frequently?

Thanks, Kim

Thank you for your question. There is a link below that provides excellent information on how to plant under existing trees. I recommend you review this information and follow the guidance. The selection of individual plants is important. Also, you want to cause as little disruption to the tree roots as possible.

I am unable to answer your questions about emitters and watering times. Another link from CSU Extension recommends that you review the manufacturer's system literature for information about design and management of the system. See the section entitled "Drip Systems."

Best of luck with your project. I regret I could not answer some of your questions.
