What are the most desirable Crabtrees for zones 3-4 of S Central Oregon considering disease, spring to fall interest, sprouting from the roots? I'm wanting one for an ornamental, not for eating; and for the birds.

There are many crabapple trees that you can choose from. Here is a link to the OSU Woody Plant ID site. Just scroll down to crabapple to see types listed. Then click on each one to get more information about them. Some of these will likely fit your specifications. http://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/common/c

Crabapples do very well in our area. Some that are particularly nice are Summer Snow, Prairifire, Bechtel and Royal Raindrops. But these are only ones I like, there are so many nice ones to choose from. Here is another link that will have suggestions you may like: https://catalog.extension.oregonstate.edu/em9136 . Just click on the link and hit the view it now tab to open the publication.
