Black Walnut Mold Remediation

Asked March 20, 2017, 1:29 PM EDT

Toxic mold from black walnuts decaying has nearly killed our dog. (Per the vet and he has not recovered yet.) We plan to have the four black walnut trees on the property removed in a couple of weeks and the stumps ground in place. What can be done to remediate the mold from the decaying black walnuts that remains? Is there something that can be put on the ground to neutralize the mold that will not hurt animals? Thank you.

We recommend that you simply rake up any remaining walnuts. We are not familiar with any fungicide that would solve the problem. We have no research on it.
