It may be too early to start up the automated sprinkler system as freezing temperatures at night are still in the forecast. However, given the length of time there has been no precipitation and the very warm temperatures we are experiencing, it is highly advisable to water your entire landscape. Trees (both deciduous and evergreen), shrubs, roses, perennials and lawn can all suffer damage if not provided supplemental water during dry winter periods such as we’ve had this year. Give special attention to any part of your landscape that faces south and west. Since sprinkler systems are turned off for the winter, hose with hose-end sprinklers should be used.
