Blueberry plant selection

Asked March 8, 2017, 7:51 PM EST

I have one Elliott and two Reveille blueberry plants. Looking to plant one more blueberry bush for my home garden. Looking for a sweet berry that produces well. Any suggestions? The two varieties I have now do well enough but I'd prefer a sweeter berry. Or, is there something I need to do to produce sweeter berries as opposed to a variety change? Thanks.

Here are a couple of thoughts. Make sure that you are not harvesting too early. Berries turn blue 3 to 4 days before they attain maximum sweetness and flavor. Also, if you had a great deal of rain within the days before picking, water content may be high and the fruits are not as sweet as normal. Look at harvesting information
You can look on our cultivar list and Rutgers for more information on varieties.
