Blooming fruit trees

Asked March 2, 2017, 8:44 AM EST

My peach and pear trees have started to bloom. We're expecting a couple of cold nights this weekend (about 25 degreesat night). We live in the city with a protected back yard Do I need to be concerned about the trees? If so what can I do to protect them?

Open blooms are more cold-sensitive than closed buds. Avoid planting in low areas or frost pockets. If possible, cover small trees with a light tarp or other light cover if a frost is expected. Here is more information on Critical temperatures For Various Fruits
