Tree Lichen

Asked February 28, 2017, 11:46 PM EST

Hi! I'm trying to reclaim an old, overgrown apple tree that I'll be pruning this weekend, ( I know I'm late). The tree is also covered with lichen and I would like to know what is the best way to remove it? Thank you, Paul H. Moore

Lichen are natural on older trees and do not present a problem. They do not paratisize the tree. Overgrown apple trees need to be pruned in stages, not all at once. Go to this OSU publication. extension.oregonstate.edu/…ldneglectedappletree.pdf
