Does potassium choloride hurt salt sensitive trees?

Can I safely use some potassium chloride fertilizer in my yard around my Tsuga Canadensis (eastern hemlock)?

I would not use that in that area. If you are trying to add potassium to your soil there are other sources. Here is a link to some information: http://extension.psu.edu/agronomy-guide/cm/sec2/sec28c
However, my question to you is "Have you had a soil test done? Did it show a need for this particular product?" If not, take a soil test and follow the recommendations. Make sure you mention that you are treating an area around a hemlock. Here is a link to the Soil Laboratory. It will give you directions: http://soiltest.cfans.umn.edu/
