How do you get rid of these tiny pest in soil. They are in my geraniums and orchid bark. Thank you so much for your help. Not sure if they are fruit flies. Eileen

I'm guessing that these may be fungus gnats attracted to overly wet planting media; Try drying out the planting media. If these are fungus gnats, they will go away without using any pesticides. If the flies do not go away after you dry the planting media, take a sample of the flies into your local Broward County Extension office located at 3245 College Avenue, Davie, FL 33314 for the Extension Agent to examine in person.

Thank you Vicky. Glad to know cooperative extension in Davie. Well watch to see if they leave when soil dries out.

Keep me updated, Eileen. :)
