Agriculteral Cornmeal - Organic

Asked January 9, 2017, 12:05 PM EST

Hello,

I live in Elkton, MD. I recently heard a speaker at the MENF who spoke about the added benefits of using cornmeal in your soil. However, I don't want to use conventional corn, as I am moving to organic production. Can you please tell me where I can source this product?

His website is www.DirtDoctor.com

Thank you,
Eliza

Eliza,
Thank you for your question. I am not familiar with using cornmeal as a soil amendment. Some use corn gluten as a weed control, but it's been found to work primarily because its high nitrogen content causes excessive grass growth which crowds out weeds.
You might want to contact your local Extension agent in Cecil County to see if they know of a source. Here is a link to their web page:

Thank you for the link, Annette! Best, Eliza
