Cherry tree dormant spray

Asked January 2, 2017, 6:20 PM EST

I had what appeared to be black spot on my cherries and leaves last summer on my large cherry tree. It seemed to spread from a nearby plum tree. I removed fallen leaves and fruit, although I'm sure some pits remain in the lawn. I plan to spray this winter before blossoms attract bees. What is the best schedule for dormant spraying and should I alternate between sulfur and copper sprays? Thank you
