How much extra food do they need when they have 1 acre of uncleared land to roam?

Lane County Oregon

As long as they have a good body condition (no protruding bones and large hollows) no supplemental feed is necessary. A mineral/salt block is recommended by also not absolutely necessary unless you have identified mineral deficiencies in the area. Selenium tends to be deficient in many areas of Oregon. Goats also prefer mostly woody types plants for their diet, and are not suited to consume large quantities of grain, hay, etc. Using small amounts of grain for handling is fine, or if you were needing to have the animal gain a significant amount of weight. Body Condition is always the way to go as far as any livestock.
