To wrap a tree or not wrap a tree?

Asked November 16, 2016, 1:34 PM EST

We just planted 2 maples in my back yard back in august. Each tree is staked and each is about 11/2 inches in diameter. Should I wrap these trees before winter sets in? We live in south east Denver.

It is a good idea to wrap your maples. In Colorado, between December and March, our thin skinned, deciduous trees (your maples, for example) often suffer from sun scald. Wrapping them can help to prevent against this.
