Alocasia overwintering

Asked November 1, 2016, 9:24 AM EDT

I have successfully overwintered Colocasia but have mixed and contradictory information overwintering the Alocasia after much internet search. I needed help to dig up the plant yesterday and put it in the basement but I am not sure this is the best procedure. I could not get help to do this within the next few weeks. .Do I keep it in the pot until Spring in the basement? Briing it to a room where there is some light? PUt the pot back outside and let the frost get to it and then clean off the roots and let them dry out and then place the plant in peat or vermiculite. Thanks!
