Small bugs in my gazanias

Asked October 26, 2016, 9:30 PM EDT

My clumping gazanias have been wrecked by insects. I saw just a few cut worms and just a few pill bugs but I saw thousands of small jumping bugs that look like miniature fleas. Do you think these small bugs are responsible for the damage? Please see attached pictures

No I don't believe these would be responsible for plant damage. These are amphipods, sometimes called scuds. They live in water or in moist soil and sometimes show up on the soil surface, especially following a rain event. http://landscapeipm.tamu.edu/what-is-ipm/ipm-concepts/pest-identification/good-bug-bad-bug/neither/s...

I cannot say what is eating your gazanias, but I don't believe it is these.

Thank you for your help on this. I really appreciate it!
