Wintering Calla lilies outside ok?

Asked October 19, 2016, 9:10 PM EDT

We have a large potted calla lily plant that we keep in our deck from spring until the first freezes of fall... It hates being inside! Can I winter it outside? Should I put it in our basement or shed? Thanks for your help as always!

Calla lilies cannot stand temperatures below thirty degrees. Winter care is discussed in the following link. http://www.extension.iastate.edu/newsrel/2003/jan03/jan0310.html Our guess is that your shed is not heated and the winter temperatures go below 30 degrees. Your basement would be a better choice if it stays above thirty degrees. vw
