Jack, you can check out "Agrimet" on Google. BOR has a crop water use program. I put the startup dates up each year. There are lots of crops on the list including alfalfa hay, grass hay, and pasture. Use the alfm and haym, which takes into account the down time for harvests. These numbers are evapotranspiration that crop uses, does not take into account the inefficiency of irrigation system. If grower can use LESA / LEPA pivots, they are at 95% water use efficiency. My cell is 541-419-5714. I am in Golden, CO all this week for a forage conference. When I get back I can send an very good Extension pub on these pivots.
