Pine tree needles turning brown

Asked October 10, 2016, 4:16 PM EDT

Hello, We have two pines in our backyard that are turning brown from the trunk outward top to bottom of the trees, these trees are approximately 25 feet tall. They were trimming earlier this year in late May or early June. Images attached show the signs of damage to the trees. We live in Ramsey county and the property backs up to the Heritage Park in Vadnais Heights. Thank you for any info you can provide us.

Thank you for sending the pictures of the browning on your pine. Although you took care to get up close it is difficult to determine what may be going on without more direct viewing of the discolored needles. I am including a resource link below that contains pictorials and description of pine symptoms. In close comparison you may be able to eliminate and/or identify what my be occurring. Another option is to have an arborist from a local tree care company come and look at it. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/evergreen/pine/
