Is the Butterfly Bush (Buddleia) an invasive plant in North Georgia?

Thanks for your question about the Buddleia (aka Buddleja) plant family, and their status in the environment. Although the Georgia Exotic Pest Plant Council does not list Buddleia as a non-native invasive plant, other commentators would put it at the top of their list. Professor Doug Tallamy, who is quoted in the latter article, has done research on pollinators and the plants that support them, and is one whose opinion should be considered.

Hope this is helpful!

Thank you for your help - think I'll try Butterfly Weed and Joe Pye instead of Butterfly Bush!

Good! BTW, Professor Tallamy's book "Bringing Nature Home" is excellent!
