amazing colorful mystery insect

Can you please identify what insect this is? It was on a gate at my barn, and approximately three-quarters of an inch long. it was early October, approximately 67-70 degrees outside and partially cloudy when i saw it first. I noticed it was still in the same place a few hours later when the sky was fully clouded and the temperature had started dropping, so I suspect the colder temperature was causing it to be inactive. I would love to know what this was, and if it is toxic in any way.

This is an Ailanthus webworm moth which does not cause any serious problems. However, it is associated with Ailanthus, also know as tree of heaven which is an invasive species.
