winter for window basket strawberry plants

This year I planted 6 or so strawberry window box planters. What would you recommend as far as winterizing them for the winter

Containers are usually too exposed to protect plants from temperatures that are too cold and freeze thaw cycles. It would be prudent to plant the strawberries in the ground and replant them in the window boxes in the spring.
