Digging up my day lilies now
I dug up several older bunches of day lilies and have, so far, just put them in a giant pot because I have no good place or even time to properly transplant them before winter. Will they survive in a 5 gallon dirt pot over the winter? If so, should I divide them now? Or - are they just going to be done for?

The best thing is to plant them in a temporary location for the winter. However, you could cut off the foliage and put the roots in a plastic bag with damp peat moss, and place them in a cool place (basement / cellar around 55-65 degrees).
