Rubarb transplant

Asked September 25, 2016, 7:43 PM EDT

I have a huge (old?) rubarb on a piece of property that will have big machines crawling all over it soon. Can I still transplant the rubarb in the fall?

It is best to transplant early in the spring but if you must move your rhubarb now, you can. Have the new site ready. Amend soil with compost/manure. You probably will have to break the clump up into several smaller sections. That will give your new plantings a chance to expand. Plant and water. Do not harvest next spring.
