Wha is wrong with my forthergilla ?

Asked September 25, 2016, 2:33 PM EDT

I have had this plant for over 8 years and i noticed this year it looks terrible. Is this from too hot and dry weather, my husband draing pond water and using it for plants? , or some kind of disease? Should I dig it up , trim it back ? Thanks kind regards ,

In general fothergilla are tough shrubs with few pests or diseases.
We'd guess that this my be scorch from too much sun and not enough water.
You shouldn't trim or dig up. Just leave them alone, and give them a good drink of water once a week if we don't get rain this fall. You can continue this right up until the ground freezes. They should looks good again in the spring.
