ash tree

Asked September 25, 2016, 11:39 AM EDT

I have ash tree which is large in front yard. Has quite a few dead branches to trim out. When to do this?? Plus it is full of what I believe are seed pods. Is this a normal?

Do not prune your ash now. The time to prune it is in mid/late winter. February or March is good. There are no beetles about to spread the Emerald Ash Borers. As far as seeds, yes, ash trees do have seeds, more some years than others. They will be dropping soon.
