Zinnias sick every year

Asked September 22, 2016, 5:35 PM EDT

Hello, every year I get beautiful Zinnias but by fall they get covered in white "dust" and they get brown spots. The leaves are affected and the flowers too although differently. What is it and any remedy?

I would suggest spraying with a fungicide such as daconil. Make sure they are planted in full sun and it would be best to not grow them in the same spot every year. Only water at the base of the plants so as not to wet the foliage and keeping them mulched from the time they are planted may help. Clean up and destroy all plant residue this fall when they die.
