backfilling old cisterns

Asked September 20, 2016, 4:20 PM EDT

I live in the Highlands and have two cisterns that are probably over 90 years old. They are brick lined and circular. I think they are about 25-30 ft deep. I would like to know how to fill these cisterns, what material is best, and, if possible, who does this type work. They are currently covered with cement slabs.

We would suggest that you contact the Soil and Water Conservation District at 502-499-1900. They should be able to guide you.
