No fruit on trees and bushes

Asked September 19, 2016, 10:09 AM EDT

My 30 year old apple and pear trees produced no fruit this year in Reisterstown. Also, my blackberry and raspberry bushes look almost dead and had very little fruit. Are they at the end of their life? Should I cut them down?

The fact that the apple and pear trees did not produce could be due to the fact that there was frost at the wrong time or improper pruning. http://extension.psu.edu/plants/gardening/fphg/pome If the brambles look dead, it is not a bad idea to remove them and replace them. Brambles do not last forever and there are improved cultivars available. http://extension.umd.edu/sites/default/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/HG68_Getting%20Start... vw
