Timing of Maple trimming

Asked September 18, 2016, 10:22 AM EDT

When is the best time of year to cut back Maple branches that are rubbing against a (stucco) house exterior? Whom do we consult about doing this work?

Ramsey County Minnesota

Late fall to winter is a good time to prune maple trees. Pruning in late winter is
acceptable, but because sap often flows freely from pruning cuts at that time of year, some delay pruning until early summer after the leaves are full grown.
