could you help me to identify this plant using the leaf?

It grows in Massachusetts, emerging from a pond. Really tall plant, at this time it didn't have any flowers.

Bristol County Massachusetts

Hello,

It is difficult to identify the plant from your photo. Similar looking plants that grow in water are Taro, Colocasia esculenta and Yellow Waterlily, http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=NULU, which sticks up a little bit.

More likely it is Pickerelweed, Pontederia cordata.
