Squash bug infestation

Asked September 16, 2016, 5:26 PM EDT

I have hundreds of squash bugs in my little pumpkin patch! They've killed all of the vines and most of the pumpkins. Everything I've read says that I needed to kill them when they were larvae, but now they're adults, and I can't find any info on getting rid of adults. It's too late for this year, but I don't want them to survive the winter and come back again next year. What can I do? Thanks!

Thanks for your question about your squash bug infestation! You are rightly concerned about taking steps now so you don't have exactly the same problem next year! Here's a link to your University's article on the bug, as well as control mechanisms. This should answer all your questions--for this as well as next year.

Good luck!
