I found this caterpillar at our family cabin in St. Louis county this past Labor Day Weekend. I can't seem to find it online or in any books. What is it? Thanks, Tom

That is a fingered dagger moth, Acronicta dactylina, See additional pictures, including one also from St. Louis County, at http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Acronicta-dactylina and http://bugguide.net/node/view/28953. Unfortunately, that cute caterpillar turns into an unremarkable moth.
