grass seed

Asked September 13, 2016, 11:11 AM EDT

I have an area (250 sq ft) overcome with a grass spreading by runners with thick moss underneath. area has no direct sun but is brightly lit. I am planning on spraying with roundup then sometime later loosening the soil and planting grass seed. Q. 1 Will the roundup eradicate the moss? Q 2. I would like to plant a low growing grass. What do you recommend? The area sees light traffic.

Round up applied now will kill whatever weed you have. In 5 to 7 days, prepare the area either by tilling or scarifying using a steel garden rake. Moss is a good indication that the soil may be acidic.Add about 4 to 5 pounds of lime and incorporate it into the soil. Grade and seed using a blend of turf type tall fescue.
