Dying branches on spruce tree

Asked September 12, 2016, 8:53 AM EDT

We have three spruce around 12 years old and we thought they were doing incredibly well. Within the last month, on one of them, some branches are turning color and dying. Can you tell us what is happening and what the future is for that tree and will it affect the other two?

There could be many reasons for the dying branches. It isn't anything we can diagnose from a couple photos. You need to have a certified arborist do an on-site exam, ask questions and then tell you what the problem is. You can find one by going to this site and clicking on Find An Arborist. You can put in your zip code: http://treesaregood.com/home.aspx
