Ivory Halo Dogwood diseased?

Asked September 8, 2016, 9:45 AM EDT

Hello, In the spring we planted 4 Ivory Halo Dogwood bushes who appear now with brownish spots. I thought it started on one bush and it appears to now be on all 4. They touch other bushes (Arctic Fire Redtwig dogwood) that also appear to now have spots. Is this a fungus or disease that we should treat? If so, how? We'd like to avoid using harsh pesticides if possible. Thank you.

Based on your photos this looks like a leaf spot on the twig dogwood foliage. It can be common this time of year. We recommend thinning the plants in the spring to improve air circulation. Rake any fallen leaves to prevent any overwintering spores. This will not kill the plant. No chemical control is recommended.
